Evaluating employees’ health and safety when working with diisocyanates

Project No. UVT Diisocyanatstudie

Status:

ongoing

Aims:

The aim of the study is to enable employees to continue to work safely with this class of substances when handling materials containing diisocyanates. In detail, the study objectives include:

  1. To determine the incidence of occupationally associated respiratory diseases caused by diisocyanates
  2. Determination of the exposure to diisocyanates in employees
  3. To describe a dose-response relationship between exposure and the incidence of these diseases
  4. Systematic assessment of the effectiveness of the occupational health and safety measures for diisocyanates in the REACH restriction proposal (EU 2020/1149) of 03 August 2020.

Activities/Methods:

Start of the study with creation of the prerequisites for study implementation: acquisition of personnel, clarification of data protection and ethics, confirmation and scheduling with the participating companies as well as determination of measurement, survey and training schemes.
